Level of Care is a term used to define the amount of help an individual requires to live safely in their environment. It is often used to determine which nursing home is appropriate or what family resources need to be assigned.

The assignment of the level should be a team effort where the individual or the family of the individual must contribute the most effort and information. In some communities social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, home care nurses, dieticians and family physicians are also team members and provide valuable assistance to the family in ultimately solving the pressing issues.
